Chestnut you can only get once.
Genuine antique American chestnut with its characteristic worm tracks, from boards salvaged from old barns, cabins and mills that stood before the blight.
- Species: Antique American chestnut
- Character: Worm tracks, rich brown tones
- Supply: Limited and varies by month

What it is, and why it matters.
American chestnut once filled the Appalachian forests, until blight wiped it out in the early twentieth century. Boards salvaged from old barns, cabins and mills are the only supply left. Wormy chestnut has small worm tracks, rich brown color and a dry, stable character that makes it one of the most prized reclaimed woods.
We source chestnut when it becomes available, then dry, de-nail and sort it by character and width. Nashville customers use it for mantels, tabletops, cabinet doors and accent walls where its story is the star. Supply is limited, so we recommend asking early and reserving what you need.

Yes, if it is genuine antique American chestnut. We can show you the grain and the reclaimed source, and we tell you when a board is another species.
Are the worm holes a problem?
The worm tracks are old and stable, and part of the look. We grade by how many you will see so you can choose.
