Smooth where you touch it, old where you see it.
Reclaimed boards milled flat for easy installation, either fully planed to bright wood or skip-planed to keep patina, nail holes and character in the valleys.
- Options: Fully planed or skip-planed
- Thickness: Commonly about five-eighths to one inch
- Metal check: Scanned before milling

What it is, and why it matters.
Planing makes old wood easier to work with, but it also removes the patina. Full planing reveals the bright grain beneath, which suits tabletops and cabinet doors. Skip-planing removes only the high spots, leaving pockets of original surface, nail holes and saw marks across a smoother board.
We run reclaimed boards through our milling line with the right depth for each look, check them for metal first and sort by thickness. For Nashville builders, planed boards speed up installs and tighten seams, while skip-planed boards keep that lived-in surface designers ask for.

Planed and Skip-Planed Boards: common questions
What is skip planing?
Skip planing runs a board through the planer lightly so only the high spots are cut. The low spots keep their original surface, so you get a flatter board with the aged look still showing.
How thick are planed reclaimed boards?
It depends on the original board, but most finish between five-eighths and one inch. We tell you the real thickness before you buy.
How do I get a price for planed and skip-planed boards?
Fill in the form or call or text 615-357-7797, ideally with photos and measurements. We confirm what is involved and send a written price.
Ready to talk about planed and skip-planed boards?
