- Press Nail it up
Change the wood, the layout or the finish and the wall is nailed up again. Slide the light from morning to evening and watch the grain change.
Five things that decide how a wall looks.
Species sets the mood
Gray feels airy, red and brown feel warm, tobacco barn wood feels moody and heart pine glows.
Layout changes the energy
Random widths feel relaxed, even boards feel tailored, shiplap adds shadow lines and chevron adds drama.
Light changes everything
Low morning and evening light rakes across the grain and makes it look deeper.
Finish shifts the color
Oils deepen and warm the wood, satin adds a soft glow and raw keeps the weathered look.
Real wood varies
Every board is different, so always look at full-size samples in your own room.

Milling, Finishing and ServicesDesign and Sample ServiceHold the wood against your paint.Look and finish questions
Can I see samples before I buy?
Yes. Full-size sample boards are the best way to judge color, because old wood looks different in every light. Our design and sample service puts several tones in your hands, and you can try looks in the Plank Studio first.
How do I seal and care for reclaimed wood?
Walls often need only a matte clear sealer or nothing at all. Floors, counters and tables need a harder finish. Dust walls with a soft brush, clean tops with a barely damp cloth, keep indoor humidity steady and always test a finish on a spare board first.
Is reclaimed wood the same as barn wood?
Barn wood is one kind of reclaimed wood. Reclaimed also includes heart pine and oak from old floors, beams from mills and warehouses, chestnut from old farm buildings and timbers from other structures that have been taken apart and given a second life.
