What it is, and why it matters.
The goal with reclaimed wood is to protect it without making it look new. Matte, penetrating finishes keep the patina and add resistance to dirt and moisture. For tabletops, bars and floors, tougher finishes are needed, and the right choice depends on how the surface will be used.
We offer finishing in our shop and share which products we use, how to apply them and when to reapply. Nashville customers choose from oils, waxes, water-based sealers and commercial finishes, and we make sample boards in each so you can see how the wood will look.

Finishing and Sealing: common questions
Will a sealer change the color of barn wood?
Most matte sealers darken slightly and deepen the grain, and some leave the color nearly untouched. We test on sample boards so you can choose.
Can I finish reclaimed wood myself?
Yes. We share the products and steps, and many customers apply oils themselves. For high-use surfaces we recommend a pro finish.
How do I get a price for finishing and sealing?
Fill in the form or call or text 615-357-7797, ideally with photos and measurements. We confirm what is involved and send a written price.
Ready to talk about finishing and sealing?
Photos and measurements, or a sample visit, and a written price. A real person calls back, usually the same day.
